The End Of The World
I’m going to be doing a series of posts on various end of the world predictions; many of which claim that the world will end in 2012. So, seeing as 2012 is not that far off, I thought that it would be a great topic to look into and to try and explain some of the nonsense that Doomsday prophets would have us believe.
There have been many Doomsday predictions throughout history; from the Mayan calendar to the bible, from the Oracle of Delphi to Nostradamus, and more recently from pseudoscientific groups who said we’d all disappear into a man made black hole when the Large Hadron Collider was fired up.
Older predictions like those of Nostradamus and the bible are written in such a way that they could be used to interpret almost anything. More modern predictions have a mere sprinkling of science dusted over them to make them sound as if they’re scientifically researched and backed up by evidence – they are not.
The most popular date given for the end of the world is the 21 December 2012, which happens to be a friday, perfect for hosting an End of The World Party – at least you’ll have the rest of the weekend to get over a bad hangover.
My first post will be about the Polar Shift Hypothesis; a popular myth that just refuses to go away.

It seems that every generation has some sort of “end of the world” theory of some sort. I am personally tired of hearing about the 2012 predictions. We are living the best of times. I’m pretty sure that are grandfathers felt like the world was ending on the front lines of world war 2. Or how about the Jews in the concentration camps. Lets go back even farther in history, to any generation. How about the plagues of the 19th century, or the dark ages, or the conquests of Rome. Even the Mayans themselves might have felt that their world was coming to a tragic end when are early ancestors conquered the new world. Bet they didn’t see that coming. I can’t help but to wonder when the next date will be after 2012 passes without incident. It is true the world as we know it will end one day. But there is know since in trying to predict, or prepare, or loose any sleep over it. I for one am going to enjoy my time here and leave the scare tactics to the fear mongers. Lets face the facts, the end of days is big business. So don’t buy in to it.

U r right, because it could be a test. If we don’t change our ways before god walks the earth, only heaven and hell is the chose. the world could end now while we think its going to end in 2012. No mans knows except for God. CHANGE while your still on earth, forgive others, repent of all your sins, and take Lord as your father and savior, because your friengs can’t help when your facing GOD.

I predict that on December 22, 2012 the people who believe that the world will end on December 21, 2012 will STILL need to get lives.

I’m just joking…I mean we will end up destroying the world ourselves what with C02 levels rising, punching holes in our atmostphere…but I don’t get what kick people get outta spreading that ‘we are all gonna die”. With every generation there has been an ‘end of the world’ prophecy. The Mayan Calender merely says that their calender will END on the 21st of december 2012. There was this stone thing with the prediction on it, however after an earthquake (how ironic) it was broken…the passage ends with the end of the calendar, there was no real indication that the world itself will end…just that their time will end. Theirs. Not ours. Theirs. The whole sun setting in the center of the galaxy- yeah might send our world outta whack- but our world was designed to suuport life, surely we wouldn’t have been created if our mission in life was to watch it go down some giant plughole in the center of the milkyway….I mean…right?

okay, hello. names jordan. i use to be really scared of the end of the world but when u think bout it … what can we do? if god wants it to end , its gonna happin. anddd all of yal freakin out about 2012.. well i was too but now i have come to see that belief in god keeps u strong/brave. and when the bible says the earth will end in flames people that dosnt mean the world will go up in flammes. the bible is written it metaphors. i , personally believe that the planets may all line up together on 2012 butt i do not think it will end the world. and when the bible says “flames” flames refers to the sun..wich will eventually end the world.. that wat i think . but hey im only a 15 year old freshmen.. lol well live everyday like it yur last. enjoy the time we haveleft. never know when we are gonna losse it.

SECOND OF ALL, this comment is for the self pronounced atheists. I understand why you believe in what you believe in. WHAT I AM ASHAMED OF MOST is that we as Christians have a way of using “SCARE TACTICS” as a way of trying to reach out to the people that don’t believe. THIS DOSE NOT WORK. WHY? The universe and countless galaxies, and worlds, and moons, and matter, from its smallest form as atoms, to its largest stars that dwarfs our sun by a million times, was created by a single and significant moment in time referred to as the BIG BANG. This moment in time created everything that is known…..
Is that so much different than what Cristian believe. SOMETHING must have made this event occur. Regardless of faith and knowledge, I challenge anyone too present an explanation worthy of study. CRISTIANS HAVE. And besides the passion in my heart and my Good nature of which i have no idea of its origin, I trust the facts. Most of our known history extends from the bible which is a source of our erliest recorded past. Before the non believers pass judgment on the believers, Back your beliefs up. Because i know we do. Jesus was alive and real, and his body was never found….
Christians don’ t “CAST STONES UNLESS YOU ARE FREE OF SIN”. And Atheists, we are the most advanced civilization of all time. Would we not be the first to confirm the end of times?
